About Corvallis Rowing Club

Welcome to the Corvallis Rowing Club (CRC) home page.  Members are encouraged to make suggestions and contribute to this site.

The CRC is a non-profit rowing club based in Corvallis, Oregon USA.  Our club mission is to provide education and enjoyment in a team oriented atmosphere, in the sport of rowing for people in Corvallis and surrounding communities.

The history of rowing in Corvallis started in the fall of 1926 with two rowing shells (both eights) arriving in Corvallis by train with the California football team. They were a gift from the California Rowing Club and at the time, they were stored in the basement of Oregon States Fairbanks Hall. By 1929, the Oregon State Rowing Club (OSRC) was under way and won its first race against the University of Washington.

CRC was established by a couple of Oregon State rowing alums in 1993 and has been growing in members ever since. CRC is comprised of 40-50 active members, men and women ranging in age from about 26 to over 65. We invite people who have successfully completed our 6 week learn to row classes, or who already have rowing experience (in college crew or with another club) to join us. At this time, we do not have the resources to administer a junior program (ages 12-18).

CRC trains on the Willamette River where we share Oregon State University's crew facilities. Individual members' goals vary across the spectrum, from aggressive training and serious competition to those who row just to stay fit and active.  Member dues include $65/quarter to OSU for facilities, equipment and coaching; and $125/year to the club for USRowing insurance, damage, and some new equipment expenses.
